Oct. 4th - Building a Bed and Amazing Inventions.

Today went well I won't repeat the details Jena laid out but instead talk a little bit about the bed frame installation and an amazing invention which plays to two of my favorite things. First off the bed frame - I started by taking out the rear seatbacks in order to give us more space. They came out surprisingly easily with just 4 bolts needing to be removed. The rest of my time mainly involved a lot of measurements and cutting - where I ended up today was with the frame in and secured and the slats cut to size and awaiting installation tomorrow. All that is left after the slats are in is putting in the hinged piece in order to have more comfortable sitting situation in the back not just sleeping.
Now to the awesome part of the day. As Jena mentioned we went biking at Hartman again and we got to see the coolest motorcycle and bicycle invention I've seen in person. As we were getting ready a husband and wife pulled up on a Harley "Screaming Eagle" with a trailer which had two mountain bikes mounted on it. The guy said his father-in-law had put it together with them and it was still under construction but it looked wonderful. He had taken an old motorcycle wheel/fender/strut and welded it to a 3 foot plate with a cage going up from it that then connected to a ball joint mount attached to the motorcycle. Along the outside he had welded together some 75 degree angled metal with a blunted nose for the bikes to sit on either side of the trailer. In the center of the trailer they were able to put a big Pelican case which could be locked to the trailer.
