The beginning of this trip began slowly bouncing around my parents house, odds and ends in Amherst and Stevens Point before really getting on the road. We had to return all of our books on cd to the library which turned out to be fortunate for two reasons the first being the photo below (is it creepy to take photos of cars?) and secondly and more importantly we were able to stop by the Stevens Point Area Co-op. The Co-op is a wonderful whole foods store with a wonderful little bakery located inside. If you are ever in Point and need food or sweets go stop by and take a look around.
After leaving the Co-op we headed towards Wausau to meet up with our friend Peter and check out the new lay-out of Central Boardshop, a skate/snow shop owned by two old friends, look for the full review up on thefastcrusade.com soon. Peter was nice enough to take a break from his studies to come chat with us and see us out of his hometown.
From Wausau we headed on up Highway 51 through Minocqua and Hurley to end our days travels in Ashland, WI. We were feeling the night drive so we didn't look around much and just took refuge in a Wal-Mart parking lot. This was the first Wal-Mart I have seen with "no overnight parking" signs in it but since it said trucks and rvs we decided our car was allowed. We were able to get a good nights rest although I (Morgan) was a bit anxious at first.
We awoke this morning to a light rain pattering on the roof of our house and as that subsided we gathered our stuff and headed down to the waterfront to make a hearty breakfast of tomato soup and coffee. After breakfast we were able to get a nice little bike ride through Ashland in before packing up and heading to Duluth.
