Quilotoa Loop - Day 3

Our last day on the Quilotoa Loop was spent traveling from Chugchulan back to Latacunga and eventually we made it to Quito. For the first leg of the trip, we were standing on the local milk truck from Chugchilan to Sigchos which took about 1.5 hours while we went from small house to small house to pick up milk from the various farms. After that we arrived to Sigchos and soon we had a man with a truck asking if we needed a ride to the next town. After lots of haggling and realizing we didn't want to wait 3 hours for the next bus, we decided the 5 dollars per person for an hour and a half ride was worth it. We hopped in the bed of the truck along with our New York friends, Matt and Leah, not knowing what we were in for. We spent the hour and a half trip with clenched fists as the driver whizzed around each blind turn with tires squeeling and dust flying. We are happy to say we survived it and there were definitely moments where we didn't think we would.
After the life threatening ride from Sigchos to a small town, which we think is called Acosa, we hopped on a bus for a quick 20 minute ride to Saquisilli, which on Thursday, was a bustling city with a large market in the main square. There we picked up a few more things to stuff in our already full packs and then headed to Latacunga where we parted with Matt and Leah and hopped on a bus to Quito.

We must say that the transportation in Ecuador has been great so far. We have never had to wait more than half an hour for a bus and our rides have been extremely cheap, minus the stressful truck ride from Sigchos.
