Like many other Central and South American countries, Ecuador is lacking beer variety. Now, we do have to say that we have been loving the Pilsener which comes in an extra large returnable 600 ml glass bottle for $1-2, but after chatting with some other American travelers about beer yesterday we are super nostalgic for a tastebud punching IPA or a smooth creamy stout.
Morgan ordered the stout and I the pale ale (unfortunately they were out of the IPA). Neither of the beers were exceptional, but we were happy to be trying something new. The stout had a cloudy dark mocha color resembling a cream stout without much roasty flavors. The pale had just a little bitterness but didn't quite give my tastebuds what they were looking for.
All in all we weren't overly joyed by the beers but the fact that this place even exists here is exciting. It would be fantastic to see more microbreweries throughout Ecuador and with mass varieties of fruits, herbs, and other plants, it would be exciting to see what could be done with the beer world here.
